About

Hi, I’m Frances Méndez.

The digital ground has moved again. How people and brands get found is being rewritten — AI search, AI visibility, the whole question of whether a machine can find you at all — and that’s where my attention goes now. I’m learning it the way I learned the last shift: by building it. Usually badly the first time. And it’s Frances Mendez, if your keyboard skips the accent.

I’ve done this before. Twenty years running digital launches — Lady Gaga’s Fame fragrance, launch teams for Green Day and Tom Petty, enterprise rollouts across CPG, publishing and entertainment. Behind the scenes of iconic global brands, turning bold ideas into cross-functional plans a team can actually execute.

I cofounded Camino5 in Los Angeles. We do that work for founders with nothing but an idea and for Fortune 500 teams, with clients worldwide, and it’s the same job either way: make the ambitious thing practical, human, and ready for the real world. Strategy starts with people, not with a channel plan.

What I keep coming back to is the gap between what a company thinks it is and what its customers actually feel. Closing that gap is the whole job.

So if you’re getting ready for what comes next, or already in it and trying to stay ahead, that’s who I write for. Tools change and people don’t, so I teach the part that lasts.

The journey so far

01

Two decades in the work

Twenty years of digital launches — for companies of every size. Learning, over and over, that the customer’s experience is the brand.

02

Camino5

I cofounded Camino5 because every business is on a journey, and most just need someone who can help them see the road more clearly. Camino means way, path, or road in Spanish. It’s also personal — the agency is named after the five members of my family. Everything I’ve built has been for them, and because of them.

03

The AI shift

AI changed how the work gets done, so I started doing the research myself — building with the tools, testing what actually works, and asking thousands of women how they really use it.

04

Writing out loud

This site is where I publish what I learn as I learn it — and where I keep the balance between the digital and the analog. Real work, in real time.

“Starting […a business] was one leap, and putting these words to paper at this stage is another. After resisting for so long, this act of writing feels like both an homage to my roots and a step toward forging new paths.”
